Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

General Formatting and Submission Use the International Journal of Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (IJECOMBA) guide as a template. Ensure that each new paragraph is clearly indicated. Present tables and figure legends on separate pages at the end of the manuscript. Number all pages consecutively. Manuscripts should also be spellchecked using the facility available in most good word-processing packages.

Extensive use of italics and emboldening within the text should be avoided. Papers should be clear, precise, and logical and should not normally exceed 7,000-8000 words.

All papers must be submitted via the online submission system. All correspondence should be directed to the editor.

Abstract and Keywords The Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, provide a clear statement of the problem, the proposed approach or solution, and point out major findings and conclusions. The Abstract should be 150 to 250 words in length. The abstract should be written in the past tense.

The keyword list provides the opportunity to add keywords, used by the indexing and abstracting services, in addition to those already present in the title. Judicious use of keywords may increase the ease with which interested parties can locate our article. Please include 2-6 Keywords and 2-4 JEL Classification codes.

Main Text Structure

  • Introduction: The Introduction should provide a clear background, a well-defined problem statement, and a concise synthesis of relevant literature. It should explain the research gap, the objectives, and the novelty/innovation of the study. Where applicable, the conceptual or theoretical context may be briefly introduced here, and the hypotheses can be stated at the end of the section for clarity.
  • Theoretical Framework and Hypothesis Development: This section presents the core theories and key prior findings that underpin the study, and it logically builds the proposed relationships among variables. The conceptual model (if any) should be explained clearly, and each hypothesis must be stated explicitly and consistently with the framework.
  • Research Method: This section should describe the study in a chronological and transparent manner, including research design, setting/context, population and sampling, data sources and data collection procedures, operational definitions/measurements, and analytical techniques. All methodological choices should be supported by appropriate references so that the approach can be evaluated and accepted scientifically.
  • Results and Discussion: Present results in a logical sequence, supported by well-formatted tables, figures, and graphs (each referenced in the text). The Results should report findings clearly, while the Discussion should interpret the findings, relate them to theory and prior research, and explain implications. Avoid repeating in the text numerical data that are already presented in tables/figures; instead, highlight the meaning and key takeaways.
  • Conclusions and Suggestions: The conclusion should directly address the research objectives and demonstrate alignment between what was proposed in the Introduction and what was found in the Results and Discussion. Provide practical implications (for practitioners/policymakers) and recommendations for future research that are grounded in the study’s actual findings.
  • Research Limitations: State study limitations explicitly (e.g., sample size, time horizon, context specificity, measurement constraints, or methodological boundaries) and clarify how they may affect interpretation and generalizability. This section should be specific and transparent rather than generic.

References References should be cited in text. Only references cited in text should be listed at the end of the paper. APA reference and citations format (7th Edition) should be used. Ensure that all references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the text, and vice versa.

Citation Rules in Text:

  • Single author: The author's name (without initials, unless there is ambiguity) and the year of publication.
  • Two authors: Both authors' names and the year of publication.
  • Three or more authors: First author's name followed by 'et al.' and the year of publication.

Reference List Style: References should be arranged first alphabetically and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters 'a', 'b', 'c', etc., placed after the year of publication.

Authorship and AI Policy Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI)–generated text in an article shall be disclosed in the acknowledgements section of any paper submitted to the journal. The sections of the paper that use AI-generated text shall have a citation to the AI system used to generate the text.
