PLAGIARISM SCREENING POLICY

The International Journal of Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (IJECOMBA) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. We maintain a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism, including direct copying, paraphrasing without attribution, and self-plagiarism (redundant or duplicate publication).

Author Responsibilities:

  • Authors must ensure their submissions are entirely original works.

  • Any use of the words, ideas, data, or findings of others must be properly cited and quoted.

  • Manuscripts must represent a significant, novel contribution, and a substantial portion of the work must not have been published elsewhere.

Screening Process:

  1. Pre-Submission Check: Authors are strongly encouraged to screen their manuscripts using a plagiarism detection tool prior to submission. This proactive step helps identify and rectify potential issues.

  2. Editorial Screening: Every manuscript submitted to IJECOMBA undergoes an initial originality check using Turnitin or similar professional plagiarism detection software. This screening is conducted by the editorial team as part of the initial assessment.

  3. Acceptable Similarity Threshold: The maximum acceptable overall similarity index is 10%. This threshold is applied judiciously, with a focus on the nature of the matches (e.g., properly cited quotes, common phrases, and methodological descriptions are considered differently from unattributed textual copying).

Consequences:
Manuscripts found to contain unacceptable levels of plagiarism, or any form of academic dishonesty, at any stage of the review process will be automatically rejected. In serious cases, this may also result in notification to the authors' institutions and a prohibition on future submissions.

Recommended Tool for Authors:
We recommend authors use Turnitin (available at http://turnitin.com) for preliminary self-checking. Authors new to the tool should first review its instructions for use.

IJECOMBA is committed to fostering a fair and ethical publishing environment. This rigorous screening policy protects the credibility of our authors, the integrity of the scholarly record, and the trust of our readers.
